02.04 Special modules

The modules in the editor are the building bricks of your website. They can be combined in infinite ways to build exactly the pages you want on your site. Simply drag and drop the modules on to your page and release them into a placeholder.

A module will automatically open up the first time you apply it to a page. At any time you may copy, delete or edit existing modules on the page by mousing over the module and then choosing one of the options in the appearing menu.

You may link modules to your global data bank. This will make it easy to apply changes across all modules on the site when data is updated (e.g. when a phone number is changed etc.). Read more about how to work with global data under the Account settings-section.

There are four categories of modules: Content modules, Special modules, Social modules and E-commerce modules. Each module has unique functionality and the most important features are described below.

COMBINED MAP AND CONTACT MODULE

This module is designed to collect 3 independent modules with multiple functions into one module after the 'Swiss army knife'-principle. The module contains both a Google map-area, Company contact information and business opening hours. Each of these functions may also be found in seperate modules as well, but if you want it all this information the same place on your page this module comes in handy.

The map module-section: Enter your address and country in the adress field - for example like this: Street name 89, UK. If Google recognizes the address, the place will be shown on the map automatically. Choose which radius size / zoom level you want on the map via the drop down menu.

Contact module-section: Enter the name of your business/organisation in the 'Headline'-field. Enter the address including Street, Zip, city, state and country in the 'Address'-field.

Add a phone number and email adresses. You may add as many phone numbers and emails as you need.

Opening hours-section: Enter your opening hours.

Remember to press 'Save' after changing the content of the module.

Working with global data:
A smart way to manage content in a module is to link the module to your global data bank. This way, changing a piece of data - for example a phone number or address line - may be done in ONE central place. The change will automatically be applied to all linked modules on your site. In other words, when linking to global data, you don´t have to open multiple modules to apply the same change. Just edit the value for each tag (phone number, street name etc.) in the global data page under: My account/Global data (read more about global data in the account settings-section).

Linking to global data from any field in a module, may be done in two ways:

1) Where ever a blue info-icon and a link to global data appears above an input field. Click the link and choose from the drop down menu which tag should be linked to the module-field.

2) You can link any field in a module to your global data bank by entering the appropiate global data tags instead of free text. When you change the value of the tag on your global data page, the change will automatically apply to all modules with the tags written in them. Below is an example of how to enter global data tags instead of free text in the address-field of the contact module-section:

MAP

The map module is a practical way to show your location. The default map module is based on Google maps, however for some regions of the world other map providers may be used instead.

The module contains a Headline and an optional text field. If nothing is entered here, no text will appear on the site.

The most important field is the Address field. Input your address and country - for example like this: Bondstreet 70, UK (you may also insert the global data tag for address instead - read more under account settings section/global data). If Google recognizes this place, the location will be automatically displayed on the map with a pin.

You may control the zoom level of the map using the drop down menu and also apply a radius (optional). The radius will display a blue circly around the location pin on the map. The radius is using kilometers (km) as unit, so if you want a radius circle of 200 meters, simply write 0.2.

The radius circle will appear like shown in the example below:

CONTACT MODULE

The contact module is where you can display your company´s basic infomration - e.g. address, phone number, email etc. The address field of the module may be linked to global data using tags.

You may add as many phone numbers and emails as you please. Note, that the phone number and email fields are by default linked to global data. If you need to display two or more different phone numbers (or emails) you need to un-link these fields from the global data bank by clicking on the blue link and then choosing the UNLINK-option on the top of the drop down menu. The additional phone number may then be entered manually and will not be overwritten by the global data once you safe the changes.

Read more about how to use global data tags under Account settings/Global data.

CONTACT FORM MODULE

The contact module allows users to submit a message to your email through the form. The module looks like shown in the example below.

The recieving email you enter should be the email address that you want the contact forms to go to. It is default linked to the email field in global data. If you want to use another email address you need to unlink the field from global data and then enter the correct email address (read more about global data in account settings/global data).

A notification email is sent to you inbox each time the contact form has been submitted. For multiple recipients use a comma-separated list of emails, but make sure to unlink from global data first. Check the spam protection box to add a captcha to the contact form to avoid robot-generated emails and spam.

Data submitted via the contact form module can be saved for your convenience. Click here to see how to do it.

HTML MODULE

The HTML module is extremely useful if you need to apply external functionality that is not covered by any of the existing modules in the editor. Any HTML may be inserted and you can place the module in any of the placeholders on the page.

Be careful with the HTML you write or insert in the module. If you are not familiar with HTML and understand the structure and syntax - it may break or conflict with the other elements on your site. Note that mono does not offer support for custom HTML.

VIDEO MODULE

With the video module you can embed video directly on your site and give it life. You may use any video service that allows embedding of video material - like YouTube, Vimeo or others.

Copy the embed tag from the video service and insert it in the module. Here´s an example of an embed tag from YouTube:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/H9Djzz8RRpU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

RSS FEED

The RSS feed is a great way to create dynamic content on your site from external sources. Simply copy the RSS feed link into the module. Here´s an example of an RSS news feed link from National Geographic:

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/index.rss

You may configure how many feeds should be displayed and how often the feed should be refreshed.
